Butler police: Man fired shot into apartment door

Butler city police arrested a 49-year-old Butler man early Friday morning for allegedly firing a bullet from a .357-caliber revolver into the door of an occupied apartment.

Police said they responded to 106 Greenview Drive at 3:17 a.m. after receiving multiple calls about gunshots, and allegedly found Larry Alexander pacing the top floor of the apartment building carrying a pistol in one hand and a flashlight in the other hand.

Officers managed to get Alexander to peacefully come outside of the building and surrender.

A bullet hole was found in the door of an apartment. The tenant reported hearing Alexander speaking incoherently and heard a loud bang that he believed was a gunshot, police said.

Alexander admitted to being under the influence of cocaine and firing the revolver, which was recovered.

He was arraigned and ordered held in prison without bond on felony charges of violating the Uniformed Firearms Act and discharging a firearm in an occupied structure, and a misdemeanor count of recklessly endangering another person.
