Oddfellows group recognizes members
The Oddfellows of Connoquenessing Lodge 278 conducted its annual dinner last month at Rachel’s Roadhouse.
Special guest cardiology nurse Carley Patten spoke of receiving her nursing scholarship at Butler County Community College, sponsored by the lodge.
Also in attendance was Grand Master of Pennsylvania Shirley Whitlinger, who presented the Grand Lodge Merit Jewel to Alvin Waters for his years of service representing the true meaning of Oddfellowship.
Noble Grand Dan Veith presented two certificates of recognition. One went to William Watson for his many decades as treasurer of the lodge. The other went to John Mahler, who at 102 is the oldest member in Pennsylvania and the longest-serving member at 81 years.
Fourteen brothers and sisters received membership pins ranging from 5 to 80 years.
The lodge donated $3,000 to the Caitlyn Kaufman Scholarship fund at BC3.
