Butler County Sheriff's department warns of phone scam about jury duty
The Butler County Sheriff's department is warning people to be weary of a phone scam telling people they have failed to appear for federal jury duty.
According to a news release from Sheriff Michael T. Slupe, the callers use court-related language and say they will meet you or you can call with non-traceable payment options. If you question them, they will use foul language, threaten you and bully and intimidate you.
The number that displays is 724-508-3323, and they use the names of law enforcement officers from throughout the commonwealth. The sheriff's department staff has blocked its number and called the scammer repeatedly to fill their voicemail.
If you happen to receive such a call, hang up immediately. If you are a victim of this scam, please notify your local law enforcement agency.
