Zachary S. Turley, 22, of Mars, was charged with a first-offense DUI following a July 31 vehicle crash at the intersection of Callery Road and Kline Avenue in Evans City.Police said the vehicle was off the road and wedged into a treeline atop an embankment. Police said they saw an empty 3.4 fluid liter bottle of Fireball. At 3.4 fluid liters, it would be slightly larger than standard miniature bottles of liquor.Police said field sobriety tests showed Turley was impaired. Police said a later blood test showed his blood alcohol-content at 0.183%. In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08% is considered intoxicated.
5:26 p.m. Aug. 1 — Police responded to a vehicle that slid off South Duffy Road at Butler Road.Police said Mcguire Covert, 21, of Renfrew, lost control of her Chevrolet Camaro and slid off the road, getting lodged in between two trees.Covert was not injured.5:02 p.m. July 31 — Police responded to a Honda motorcycle that crashed on Whitestown Road that resulted in a minor hand injury.According to an accident report, Jason Glasgow, 28, of Butler, lost control of his motorcycle while slowing for traffic. The vehicle hit the ground after Glasgow had fallen off.
Aug. 4 — Gregory J. Basilone, 51, of Evans City, was charged with a first-offense DUI, stemming from a June 18 traffic stop at the intersection of East Main and Jackson streets in Evans City.Police said they stopped the vehicle for failing to use a turn signal. Police said Basilone appeared intoxicated, and field sobriety tests showed he was impaired.Police said a later blood test showed benzoylecgonine, morphine and fentanyl in his system.
Aug. 3 — Isaiah S. Harden, 24, of Clairton, was charged with felonies of theft and receiving stolen property, related to a vehicle stolen June 3 from the Young Funeral Home parking lot in Butler.Police said Harden stole the 2007 Kia Spectra and drove it until he abandoned it in McKeesport. Police said there was a receipt inside from Champs Sporting Goods in the Monroeville Mall.Police said they used a combination of multiple surveillance videos and purchasing information to find Harden. Police said Harden admitted to stealing the vehicle while under the influence.
Aug. 9 — Police are seeking information on a commercial burglary Aug. 1 at Turner Tractors in Forward Township.Police said two actors used force to enter a side door to steal cash, tools and paperwork from the building.Aug. 5 — Brent D. Kennard, 32, of Chicora, was charged with the manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver a controlled substance.Police said a confidential informant purchased 10 bags of heroin from Kennard at the Giant Eagle parking lot at the Clearview Mall.The total cost for the drugs was estimated at $113.Aug. 2 — Two Zelienople men were charged with possessing a controlled substance, stemming from a Dec. 2 traffic stop at Evans City exit on Interstate 79 Northbound in Jackson Township.The driver, Grant J. Etter, 34, and the passenger, Jonathan B. Ziegler, 44, both had suspected heroin or fentanyl on them, according to police.Police said they stopped the vehicle for a license plate that appeared to be hanging while secured only by one screw.Police said during their interaction, they found nine stamp bags of suspected heroin or fentanyl on Etter as well as a small amount of marijuana. On Ziegler, police said they found 10 stamp bags of suspected heroin or fentanyl.
