The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh has issued a heat advisory for Butler County from noon to 8 p.m. today.

According to a tweet from the National Weather Service, the advisory indicates heat could range from 100 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit.

The post goes on to define a heat advisory as an anticipated prolonged period of of hot weather.

"Please find a way to stay cool out there," the post said.

The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh advises that those in affected areas should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room and out of the son. People are encouraged to check on neighbors.

The post goes on to remind people that children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles.

The heat advisory also affects other areas of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Southeastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia.
