Aug. 2 — Austin D. Pesca, 27, who is homeless, was charged with possessing a controlled substance, after police checked on him Aug. 1.Police said they saw a man laying next to a tree, and when they checked on him, they recognized him as Pesca.Police said they suspected him of being under the influence of a substance after he was difficult to wake up. Police said during the arrest, they found 32 stamp bags of suspected heroin or fentanyl.Aug. 1 — Khalil Z. Rippy Jr., 22, of Butler, was charged with felony burglary and criminal attempt, related to an incident earlier that day at a West Jefferson Street apartment.Police said the lessee was home at the time, and claimed Rippy, known as “Mac,” tried to break down his door and threatened to kill him. Police said there was damage to the door latch and frame consistent with the lessee's story.

Aug. 4 — James M. Lentz, 22, of McKees Rocks, was charged with disorderly conduct, related to a call about a man with a gun in the parking lot of the North Park Lounge in Cranberry Township.Police said they spotted a vehicle associated with the call and conducted a traffic stop. Police said there were four people in the truck. Police said a pistol was found in a seat pocket closest to Lentz, and when police picked it up, he said he had a concealed carry permit.Police said Lentz admitted to pulling the gun out in the lounge parking lot, and he claimed to do so because a man he was arguing with displayed a gun. Police said video surveillance did not support Lentz's statement.Aug. 4 — Antoine L. Frazier, 55, of Pittsburgh, was charged with misdemeanor retail theft, related to a June 13 incident at Walmart in Cranberry Township.Police said Frazier tried to steal $392 in products, and of that, about $229, could not be restocked.
