Woman waives hearing for DUI, other charges
A Butler woman waived her preliminary hearing on charges alleging she was under the influence of alcohol in June when she crashed her car in Franklin Township with her 5-year-old daughter in the vehicle.
Katherine Michelle Kelly, 34, waived her hearing before District Judge William O'Donnell on charges of endangering the welfare of children, recklessly endangering another person, driving under the influence and four summary traffic violations filed by state police.
Just after 11 p.m. June 2, Trooper Ryan Hand was dispatched to a one-car accident on Country Club Road near Wilbert Lane and found Kelly seated in a car off the side of the road.
He saw open containers of beer in the driver's door and center console, and Kelly's daughter as a passenger, Hand said in an affidavit of probable cause. He also noted that she was pregnant.
Kelly was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for treatment, but refused to submit to a blood alcohol test, police said.
