The Butler County Area Baseball League's double-elimination championship tournament resumes Saturday.

Butler Township will play Pine Richland in the winner's bracket final at 11 a.m. at Butler High School. Pine Richland topped Cranberry Township, 15-11, on a walk-off grand slam in the 11th inning late Thursday night.

West Sunbury travels to Freeport for a 6 p.m. game while Karns City takes on Cranberry Township at 6:15 p.m. at Graham Park in other tourney games.

In West Sunbury's 10-2 win over East Butler Thursday, Brady Thompson was the winning pitcher. Gage Neal had a pair of doubles and Zack Caldwell two singles.

Alex Collins had two hits for East Butler.

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown drove three horses to victory during harness racing action Thursday at The Meadows.Brown guided Sugarpie Honey Bee to victory in a $9,500 Conditioned Pace, Poker Play to a win in an $8,900 Conditioned Trot and All Day Sunshine to victory in a $10,300 Conditioned Pace.Elsewhere on the card, Evans City's Aaron Johnston collected a training/driving win with Cholula, a freshman filly trotter.

Mars resident and Grove City College golfer Adam Sweet, and Butler resident and Saint Vincent College runner Steve Patterson have been named Presidents' Athletic Conference Scholar Athletes of the Year.A three-year letterman at Grove City, Sweet graduated with a 3.94 grade point average as a mechanical engineering major.Patterson was a four-year member of Saint Vincent's cross country and track and field teams. A three-time all-conference performer, he helped the Bearcats win a league championship.He graduated magna cum laude this year with degrees in economics and mathematics.

ELLWOOD CITY — Mars High School golfer Blake Bertolo won a Hurricane Junior Golf Tour event recently at Olde Stonewall Golf Club.Bertolo, 16, carded a 77 and 76 to win his age group by five strokes.
