A beekeeper removed a swarm of about 3,000 honeybees from a tree near Butler Brew Works on East Jefferson Street on Thursday morning.

East Jefferson Street was abuzz Thursday morning, when the owners of Butler Brew Works found a sizable swarm of honeybees in a small, decorative tree near their building.

Brewery co-owners Nathan Troyan and Nick Fazzoni, concerned about the decreasing number of honeybees across the U.S. and locally, immediately began calling around to find a beekeeper who could retrieve the raisin-sized pollinators and rehome them in their apiary.

Enter Bruce Fresh, of Bruin, who helped with his father's bees as a teenager and got back into beekeeping when he retired last year.
