A county veteran will have her name emblazoned on Austin Dillon's No. 3 Dow Salutes Veterans Chevrolet in the inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race at Road America July 4 in Indianapolis.

Lynn Bourchier, of Callery, who spent six years in the U.S. Air Force as an aeromedical evacuation technician in the 1980s, and 1,900 other veterans who volunteer with Team Rubicon will have their names on Dillon's car to recognize the sacrifices they made for the country.

“It's quite an honor,” Bourchier said Friday. “I think it's really nice thing to do. I know NASCAR is big supporter of first responders and the military.”

Team Rubicon mobilizes veterans to help people prepare, respond and recover from disasters and humanitarian crises across the country.

Bourchier has done a lot of volunteer work since joining Team Rubicon in 2014. She said she has worked with other Team Rubicon members to help to set up COVID-19 vaccine clinics, assist homeowners impacted by flooding in Butler in 2017 and in Zelienople, Harmony and Jackson Township two years ago, and worked with Habitat for Humanity. She serves as Pennsylvania's planning lead for Team Rubicon.

In the Air Force, she said her job was assisting in long-distance transportation of ill or injured military personnel.

After leaving the military, she worked for 38 years as a paramedic in Allegheny and Butler counties.

She now works as a human resources and safety manager for Long Haul Custom Detailing in Saxonburg, which details tractor trailers and other large trucks.

Bourchier said she plans on watching the race on TV with friends. She said she appreciates the hard work that went into adding the 1,900 names to the race car's paint scheme.

“These veterans and active-duty military are true heroes, and it really means a lot that Dow gives us the opportunity to recognize their service and dedication each year,” Dillon said in a statement.
