Bucs blast 3 HRs on way to win
Bryan Reynolds, Adam Frazier and Phil Evans each hit a home run to help the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 8-2, Thursday night.
Frazier and Reynolds were both 3-for-4 at press time.
Pittsburgh’s Chad Kuhl was in line for the win, allowing just one run on three hits in six innings.
Reliever David Bednar, a Mars Area High School graduate, came on to get the final out of the eighth inning and then pitched a perfect ninth.
The Pirates roughed up Cardinals’ starter Carlos Martinez, who allowed five earned runs on five hits in five innings. He struck out two and walked seven and surrendered the home run to Reynolds in the fourth.
