Kubit wins nominations for common pleas court
Butler County voters in Tuesday night's primary election nudged one attorney closer to the open position in the county Court of Common Pleas.
Candidate Joe Kubit won both Republican and Democratic nominations heading into the fall election.
“I'm honored to receive both the Republican and Democratic nominations,” Kubit said. “I will work hard to earn the support of all voters in Butler County in November's general election.”Kubit won the Republican nomination by more than double his opponent's, county District Attorney Richard Goldinger's, total.Kubit had 16,553 votes to Goldinger's 8,160 votes. Goldinger was much closer in the Democratic primary, but still fell short with 4,359 votes to Kubit's 6,073.“Thank you for the citizens of Butler County who cast their votes for me,” Goldinger said. “I wish to congratulate Joe Kubit on a well-run campaign and a primary election victory. I wish him the best of luck in the November election.”Kubit shared the sentiment that the campaigns were well run and clean on both sides.“Rich Goldinger ran a honorable campaign,” Kubit said. “The two of us showed that candidates can compete in a respectable and professional fashion.”Still, Kubit, a private attorney, was able to nudge out the county's district attorney. Kubit said both of them had experience for the job and left it to the voters to decide.“Judicial races should be run on qualifications and experience,” he said.
