Truck fire closes Route 422 Saturday
A truck and camper that caught fire closed down both westbound lanes of Route 422 near the South Shore exit of Moraine State Park for about an hour Saturday.
The Portersville Muddy Creek Fire Department was called to the scene of a vehicle fire on Route 422 at around 12:11 p.m. According to firefighters, the two passengers of the vehicle were able to leave the truck and were uninjured.
Although the truck and camper were on the side of the road, firefighters on scene closed both lanes of westbound Route 422.
The truck was a total loss, firefighters said, but portions of the camper were salvageable and the passengers were able to remove their belongings.
Portersville Muddy Creek Volunteer Fire Department and EMS, as well as state police, responded to the scene.
Route 422 was fully reopened around 1 p.m., according to firefighters.
