SV's Smith shines at Baldwin

Seneca Valley's Rylie Smith placed second in the 400 meters and fourth in the 200 to highlight Butler County's participation in the girls portion of the Baldwin Track and Field Invitational Saturday.

Smith ran the 400 in 58.42 seconds, the 200 in 27.41.

Kiersten Belt placed sixth in the 110-meter hurdles and seventh in the pole vault for the Raiders. Lillian Karchut and Katie Monahan placed eighth in the javelin and shot put, respectively. SV's 4x100 relay placed seventh.

Butler's Megan Baggetta took third in the triple jump at 35 feet, 11 inches. Alli Morrow was sixth in the long jump at 17-0.25. Sarayne Forbes was seventh in the discus, Jennifer Cichra eighth in the 1,600.

The Golden Tornado's 4x800 relay placed seventh.

Knoch's Madison Hunt placed seventh in the shot put.

Freeport exploded for 18 hits in defeating Burrell, 18-1, in three innings.Autumn Powell had a homer, two singles and four RBI, Jenna Selker a double and two singles, winning pitcher Sydney Selker a homer, double, single, four RBI and three runs scored.Savanna Urik, Abby DeJidas, and Emily Schmidt all had two hits for the Yellowjackets.
