BMH reducing hours at vaccine clinic

Beginning next Wednesday, Butler Memorial Hospital will reduce the hours of operation at its COVID-19 vaccine clinic because fewer people are making appointments.

The clinic at the Clearview Mall will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 19, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. May 20 and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 21.

The following week, from May 24 to 28, the clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.

After closing for Memorial Day on May 31, the clinic will operate only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays beginning the first week of June. The hours will be 8 a.m. to noon Mondays and Fridays and 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesdays.

BMH officials said the hours are being reduced because many available appointments are not being used and hours are being adjusted to meet the number of people seeking vaccinations.

An ample supply of vaccine is available and people should get vaccinated because herd immunity has not been established, hospital officials said.

Butler Health System is accepting walk-ins and appointments for vaccinations at its clinics at the mall and Clarion Hospital. Appointments can be made at www.butlerhealthsystem.org.

In the county, 18,647 people are partially vaccinated and 69,731 people are fully vaccinated out of the population of 187,853.
