UPMC Jameson will hold a special vaccination clinic from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 15 at Lincoln High School clinic for Ellwood City and surrounding area community members.

Currently, the clinic will distribute two-dose Pfizer vaccines.

Community members can directly self-schedule their first dose vaccine appointment at Vaccine.UPMC.com.

When you click to “Schedule My Vaccine,” you can view all the UPMC vaccination locations and their open appointment dates and times.

You can instantly claim a spot to schedule your first-dose vaccine appointment.

For those who need assistance by phone, call 844-876-2822 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week.

All Pennsylvanians 16 years of age and older are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Those aged 16 and 17 are authorized to receive the Pfizer vaccine. Pfizer vaccine authorization for people 12 to 15 years of age is expected in the near future.

The Seneca Valley Biology Club cleaned up the competition by winning the Butler County Envirothon Competition on April 27.The first place team will attend the virtual state-level competition May 10.First place team members include Avani Salunkhe, Ty Laughlin, Josie Walter, Gargi Rane and Mark Wimer.“The club worked hard to prepare this year in the midst of so many challenges,” said Dana Hadley, high school teacher and Biology Club sponsor. “In addition, we didn't know what to expect with a virtual test as this competition is usually held outdoors and more hands-on. I am so proud of their perseverance.”SV Biology Club members have qualified for State Level Envirothon Competitions for the past 30 years.The Biology Club prepares students to compete in two environmental team competitions throughout the school year.Topics include identification of animals and plants, aquatic ecology, forestry, soils and land use, current environmental issues and wildlife management.

Mars Area Centennial School will hold a drive to benefit the Butler County Humane Society May 10 to 14.The school is collecting donations of canned dog/cat food, treats, leashes, heating pads, paper towels, garbage bags, newspaper, blankets/sheets, etc.A complete list of requested items is available at https://butlercountyhs.org/make-a-donation/wish-list/.Donations may be dropped off during school hours at the school's main office.For more information, contact Kiley Slowik, fifth grade teacher, 724-625-2601.

Mars Planet Foundation is holding a dinner-to-go fundraiser in coordination with Mars Farmhouse Café.Dinner for four includes penne pasta in basil marinara, feta cheese, spinach, grape tomatoes and balsamic glaze; garlic bread; Ceasar salad; and tiramisu.
