Butler boys win Baldwin Invite
Despite having a limited roster due to prom night, Butler's boys track and field team won the Baldwin Invitational Friday night.
The Golden Tornado tallied 66 points to beat out runner-up Canon-McMillan. The girls portion of the meet takes place Saturday.
Guinness Brown won the 100 meters in 10.80 seconds. CJ Singleton won the 1,600 and 3,200 meters in 4 minutes, 14.17 seconds and 9:09.24, respectively.
Tristan McGarrah was second in the pole vault with a height of 13 feet, 9 inches.
Other placers for Butler include Presley Ornelas taking third in the 300-meter hurdles, Lucas Slear fourth in the 400, Tyler Rekich sixth in the triple jump and Cade Savochka eighth in the pole vault.
The Tornado's 4x100 relay of Ornelas, Brown, David Graef and Brayden Young took fifth while the 4x400 relay of Ornelas, Raine Gratzmiller, Young and Slear took sixth.
Softball
Dakota Burns' two-run single highlighted a four-run first inning for Slippery Rock, but the Rockets dropped a 7-4 softball decision to Corry Thursday.
Paige Gresgott struck out 11 in a losing cause.
