1 injured after car hits dry cleaning business in Cranberry

On Tuesday morning, a vehicle struck Take it to the Cleaners, a dry cleaner on Freedom Road in Cranberry Township.

CRANBERRY TWP — One man was taken to the hospital after a car struck a township business Tuesday morning.

Jim Fornicoia, owner of Take It to the Cleaners on Freedom Road, said a man in an Acura sedan crashed into the wall of his dry cleaning business shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday.

According to Fornicoia, he had seen the man, whom he described as looking in his 40s or 50s, struggling to put his mask on prior to walking into a nearby convenience store. After that, Fornicoia said, the man pulled from around a gas pump in his car and struck the door and wall of the dry cleaners.

While the driver looked unwell as Fornicoia tried to put the car in park, he said the man was able to walk around when paramedics arrived.

The Acura struck the western end of the brick wall and the business' glass front door before being stopped by a steel I-beam, according to Fornicoia.

Fornicoia, who was operating his business at around noon Tuesday, said he will remain open unless structural engineers say the building is compromised.

“We're just too busy,” he said. “People still want their clothes.”
