GROVE CITY — Seneca Valley graduate and Grove City College freshman volleyball player Anna DeGraaf has been named Presidents' Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year.

DeGraaf was also named first team All-PAC.

She led Grove City this season with a .280 hitting percentage and 35 blocks. She ranked fourth in the league in block average (0.88) and fifth in hitting percentage.

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown drove RN Nate to victory against 11-1 odds Thursday in harness racing action at The Meadows.The 9-year-old gelding won handily in the $6,000 Conditioned Pace.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Just about everyone knew the Kansas City Chiefs were going to address their offensive line through the NFL draft.Nobody quite expected them to do it a week before it even started.The Chiefs plugged the biggest hole remaining on their AFC champion roster Friday when they acquired two-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Orlando Brown from the Ravens for a package of draft picks, including the No. 31 overall selection this year.The Ravens announced the trade, which is pending a physical. ESPN.com was first to report the terms.The Ravens will get the No. 31 overall pick Thursday night, along with third- and fourth-round picks this year and a fifth-round pick next year. The Chiefs will get the Ravens' second-round pick next week and a sixth-rounder in 2022.

CLEVELAND — For all their drafting mistakes and missteps over the past two decades, the Browns got it right in 2018.On Friday, the team exercised the fifth-year contract options on quarterback Baker Mayfield and cornerback Denzel Ward, the respective Nos. 1 and 4 overall picks three years ago who have become integral to Cleveland's new-found success.Mayfield bounced back from a shaky 2019 season to threw 30 touchdown passes last season while leading the Browns to an 11-5 regular-season record, their first playoff appearance since the 2002 season and their first postseason win since 1994 — a wild-card victory over rival Pittsburgh.The 25-year-old is the franchise QB the Browns have longed for, and now the club will consider signing him to a long-term extension.
