HERSHEY — Butler’s competitive cheer squad took second place out of nine teams in the coed division at the PIAA Spirit Championships Saturday.

The Golden Tornado tallied 86.67 points, trailing only McDowell’s 89.97. McDowell won its third state title in five years.

Karns City’s girls finished fifth out of eight teams in the Class 2A Large Varsity division with a 71.60. Champion Bishop McCort had an 89.27.

Moniteau’s girls were ninth out of 13 teams in the Class 2A Small Varsity division with a 62.27. Champion Lansdale Catholic had an 88.62.
