Gresgott fans 12 in SR victory

Paige Gresgott struck out 12 and allowed five hits Thursday as Slippery Rock rallied for a 4-3 softball victory over Franklin.

The Rockets scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, the winning tally scoring on an error. Gresgott had three of Slippery Rock's five hits.

The Rockets survived six errors and five Franklin stolen bases in getting the win.

Both Freeport teams improved to 2-1 on the season with victories over Highlands. Evelynn Vissari scored six goals and Bree Dittman four to lead Butler to a 19-6 win over Freeport.Becca Allison, Mackenzie Gilliland and Sydney Spack netted two goals each for the Golden Tornado. Alana Collins, Khloe Huber and Vanessa Drohan added one each.Lauren LeGrand made eight saves in goal.Morgan Wise had three goals and an assist for Freeport while Brettlyn Johns, Saige Smith and Addalyn Bowers had one goal each. Smith's goal was the first of her career.

Kaleb Wogner had 17 assists and four aces, but Butler dropped a 25-19, 25-19, 25-13 decision to North Allegheny.Tyler Gillis had seven kills and Carson Stein had eight passes. The Golden Tornado host McDowell Friday.
