Police: SRU student breaks in, takes selfie in ex's bedroom
A Slippery Rock University student was charged Tuesday with breaking into campus housing and taking a Snapchat selfie in his ex-girlfriend's bedroom.
Clayton G. Wallrich, 18, of East Amherst, N.Y., was charged by SRU Police with two felony counts of trespass.
Charging documents state the accuser received a Snapchat screenshot March 27 from a friend. The photo was a selfie of Wallrich.
“(The accuser) instantly recognized the background of the photo as her bedroom,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit.
According to documents, the ex-girlfriend told police she was not home at the time, and she believed Wallrich picked the lock on her door to gain entry.
Police said she told them she had seen her ex-boyfriend pick locks before, using a kit.
Police said that during their interview with Wallrich, he admitted to the accusations, which he said he did to “get a rise out of her.”
Police said at their request, Wallrich showed them two tools he used and proceeded to “pick” his own door lock.
A preliminary hearing will be scheduled.
