SRU baseball falls in DH at Gannon

ERIE — Gannon scored 11 of its 12 runs on the day in just two innings Monday while sweeping a baseball doubleheader from Slippery Rock University.

The Golden Knights (6-6, 4-2) won the first game, 7-3, before earning a 5-4 decision in the nightcap. The Rock fell to 12-5 overall, 3-3 in PSAC West play.

Jon Kozarian had five hits in six at-bats for SRU, including two doubles. He had two RBI and walked twice.

Connor Hamilton had four hits in the twinbill, scoring a run and knocking one in.

Seneca Valley graduate Anthony Cinicola had a single in the first game for The Rock. Mars graduate Brandon Wetherholt hit a solo home run in the first inning for Gannon.

The Golden Knights scored six runs in the third inning. Luke Trueman took the loss on the hill for SRU, allowing all seven runs.

SRU took a 4-0 lead in the nightcap before Gannon rallied. Christian Seelhorst pitched four scoreless frames before walking four straight batters in the fifth.

Andy McClymonds came on in relief, but the Golden Knights went on to score five runs in the inning.

Eddie Morris hit a two-run homer for The Rock, his team-leading fourth of the season.

SRU hosts Gannon for a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Critchfield Park.
