Moniteau's DeMatteis sweeps SRU

SLIPPERY ROCK — Moniteau graduate Kennedy DeMatteis earned her keep in the pitching circle for Gannon University Saturday.

She carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning of the first game before settling for a three-hit shutout. She struck out four and walked three.

DeMatteis tossed a complete-game in the nightcap as well, allowing only an unearned run. She limited SRU (2-12) to four hits and struck out four.

Seneca Valley graduate Claire Zimmerman pitched three innings of relief for The Rock in the second game, striking out a career-high five batters. She permitted only two hits.

Gannon is 8-8 overall this season, 7-5 in PSAC West play. DeMatteis is now 3-5 with a 3.67 earned run average on the year.

The Rock returns to action Tuesday, traveling to Gannon for a 2:30 p.m. doubleheader.
