Lancaster Twp. manager resigns
Lancaster Township is without a manager for the second time in six months.
Danielle Rich, who started her role as township manager Dec. 14, resigned effective Wednesday afternoon, township solicitor Chris Reese confirmed. Reese said Rich cited “personal reasons” for resigning.
She is the second person to have left that role since Sept. 30, when longtime manager Benjamin Kramer left the position under similarly sudden circumstances. Although Kramer received more than $18,000 in severance pay when he left, there is no indication Rich received similar consideration.
Rich could not be reached for comment.
The newly departed manager came into the role with a number of goals, including promoting public access to information, promoting public participation and further compiling Lancaster's decennial comprehensive plan. She also said she was inspired by the career of former Cranberry Township manager Jerry Andree, who retired earlier this year after 30 years in that role.
Reese did not say whether the township supervisors would be looking to hire a third manager; however, supervisors chairman Joe Plesniak has in the past extolled the virtues of having a professional township manager.
