2 men charged with drug possession
One man's arrest warrant allegedly led police to a stash of drugs packaged for sale.
Arrest warrants were issued Friday for Donald J. Dobson 45, of Parker, and Nicholas D. McCloskey, 42, of Butler.
According to charging documents, both men were taken into custody by Butler Township police after drugs were found in their car during a Thursday traffic stop, but they were released before charges were filed.
According to documents, police stopped a Passat driven by McCloskey because they saw Dobson in the passenger seat, and knew there was a bench warrant for his arrest.
“Upon approaching the Passat, I viewed both the driver and Dobson making furtive movements, namely reaching toward their feet and reaching near the center console,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit.
According to documents, police saw heroin in plain view on the passenger-side floor, which prompted police to take the men into custody.
The documents said a search of the vehicle revealed about 64 stamp bags of heroin, labelled with three different brands. Police allegedly also found 60 pills of oxycodone and 11 pills of oxymorphine along with other forms of drug paraphernalia.
Both men have identical sets of charges, including two felony counts of possessing drugs with the intent to sell and one felony count of criminal conspiracy. They each also have three drug-related misdemeanor charges.
