Mineo rolling for SRU
SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock High School graduate Ricky Mineo had another stellar outing on the mound Saturday at Critchfield Park.
Mineo (3-0), the PSAC’s strikeout leader, struck out 11 in six innings in leading the Slippery Rock University baseball team to a 2-1 win over Clarion in the first game of a doubleheader.
The Rock (9-2) won the nightcap, 13-2.
Andy McClymonds struck out the side in the seventh to get the save in Game 1. Jon Kozarian had two doubles and two RBI.
Abraham Mow keyed an offensive explosion in the second game, going 5-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. Kozarian had three hits and two RBI.
Eddie Morris had a home run and three RBI.
SRU opens the PSAC West portion of its schedule Friday with a doubleheader at California (Pa.). The Rock hosts the Vulcans for a 1 p.m. twinbill Saturday.
