Butler families who will send their children to Broad Street Elementary School in the fall can meet the recently hired principal and attend an open house this week.

The Butler Area School District announced that parents and students can come to Rotary Park, at the corner of West Cunningham and South Chestnut streets, on Tuesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. to meet principal Vanessa Boyd and learn more about the programs available at the school. Students will be able to take a book from the district’s Book Stop.

Residents can also meet Boyd and learn about school programs at an open house at the school on Friday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The school district is reopening the school in the fall for grades kindergarten through four. The school was closed in a 2015 consolidation plan.
