SRU gets sweep of rival IUP
SLIPPERY ROCK — Connor Hamilton belted two home runs, collected seven RBI and went 7-for-8 at the plate Friday as the Slippery Rock University baseball team swept a doubleheader from Indiana (Pa.) at Critchfield Park.
SRU (4-1) won the games by scores of 7-5 and 9-2.
The Rock catcher scored four runs and hit a triple as part of his big day.
Luke Trueman struck out seven in five innings in Game 1. JT Wolke got the victory in relief.
SRU trailed 5-3 before scoring four runs in the sixth inning. Hamilton’s RBI single tied the game and Alex Robenolt followed with a two-run double for the game-winning hit.
Christian Seelhorst and Andy McClymonds combined to strike out 16 Crimson Hawks in the nightcap. Seelhorst fanned 11 in 4.2 innings pitched while McClymonds whiffed five in 2.1 innings.
Seneca Valley graduate Anthony Cinicola had a hit for The Rock in the second game.
IUP fell to 1-3 on the young season.
SRU hosts Frostburg State in a 1 p.m. doubleheader Sunday.
