Power strip short may be cause of apartment fire

Several fire department crews respond to a fire at the Meadow Brook apartment complex Friday afternoon. No one was injured, according to an official at the scene.

CENTER TWP — An afternoon fire Friday at the Meadow Brook apartment complex resulted in no injuries to the residents, said an official at the scene.

Unionville Volunteer Fire Company Chief Mike Pflugh said at the scene that the call came in at around 3:29 p.m. and crews responded by 3:35 p.m. to the apartment at 403 Meadowview Lane. He said the fire was likely caused by a power strip shorting out in the second-floor bedroom of the unit.

The apartment was damaged by the fire and smoke. Pflugh said he did not know the cost of the damage.

Alongside Unionville, responding to the scene were Butler City Fire Department, Butler Township Volunteer Fire District, Oakland Township Volunteer Fire Department, Oneida Valley Volunteer Fire Department, West Sunbury Volunteer Fire Department, Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company and Butler Ambulance Service.

Departments began leaving the scene around 4:30 p.m.
