Police: Saxonburg man allegedly used car in assault

SAXONBURG — A Saxonburg man accused of aggravated assault had his case moved to a higher court Wednesday.

Without an attorney, Austin G. Heade, 21, waived his right to a preliminary hearing before District Judge Sue Haggerty.

Heade appeared in-person for court, with family members standing behind him. Heade was arrested and arraigned Friday.

He was then taken to Butler County Prison and has since posted a $5,000 bond that comes with a no-contact condition regarding the three alleged victims.

According to charging documents, Saxonburg police were contacted by one of the victims in the case.

Police said written statements from all three victims and video evidence portray a blue Subaru WRX driving past two of the victims, who were sitting in a vehicle in the Knoch High School parking lot.

According to the documents, all three victims identified Heade as the driver of the car, which drove past the victims' car several times at high speeds and at an unsafe distance.

“The Subaru also circled their vehicle,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit.

The documents said Heade drove threateningly toward the third victim, who was on foot. The third victim also claimed Heade had “wanted to fight” him, according to the document.

Police said they were unsuccessful in their attempts to speak with Heade for his side of the story.

Charges were filed Feb. 26, and include felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor stalking and misdemeanor reckless endangerment.
