The U.S. Department of Agriculture has added $35 million to the Value-Added Producer Grant program for producers affected by COVID-19, raising the total amount available to $76 million.

The USDA also extended the application deadline to May 4 for paper submissions. Applications are also permitted via www.Grants.gov and must be received before noon April 29. The original application deadline was March 22. The matching requirement for applicants seeking the $35 million has been reduced. Application tool kits are available on the Value-Added Producer Grant program webpage.

The Butler Health System is hosting a winter blood drive March 11. The drive is being held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in The Dimmick Center on Hospital Way. Donors should use the Brady Street entrance.People wishing to donate can schedule an appointment at vitalant.org or by calling Vitalant at 412-209-7000.All donors will receive a coupon for $3.50 off their bill at Brady Street Cafe, To Your Health Cafe, or Crossroads Cafe.
