Harmony's antique car show makes post-COVID return

It's taken a year to come to fruition, but Historic Harmony will host its antique car show featuring built-in-Butler automobiles later this month.

Rodney Gasch, president of Historic Harmony, said the event, titled the “5 Great Old Cars Antique Auto Show,” will be hosted Tuesdays through Sundays between March 27 and April 11 at Stewart Hall in Harmony.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays and Tuesdays through Fridays, visitors can view the 1909 Huselton, 1922 Standard Eight, 1930 American Austin, 1939 Bantam Speedster and 1941 Bantam Reconnaissance Car 40, all of which were built in Butler County. The 1941 BRC 40 is sometimes called the “original Jeep,” as it was Bantam's prototype in the U.S. government's search for a military utility vehicle during World War II.

The car show will be one of Harmony Museum's first major events since the coronavirus pandemic forced it to shutter many of its operations. At this point last year, the museum canceled its indoor car show, which also focused on vehicles produced in Butler County.

Admission to the car show is $3, and children age 5 and younger get free admittance. Tickets will be available at the door. The museum is also seeking volunteers to take admission for the show and monitor the number of people inside. Those interested can email the museum at hmuseum@zoominternet.net.

Although the car show will be one of the group's first major events since COVID-19 emerged in Pennsylvania, the group has a number of other events planned for the coming months.

From May 21 through June 13, Historic Harmony will host its Hunt for History Scavenger Hunt. It will also sponsor the first in the Parks Concert Series hosted by the borough's Parks Board in July.
