Woman charged with trying to kill husband

Hearing has been set for March 15

A Butler woman who allegedly stabbed her husband last week has been charged with attempted murder.

On Monday, police arrested and charged Dhana LeFevre, 52, with attempted murder in the first degree and felony aggravated assault. The victim, Philip LeFevre, 55, was flown by helicopter to UPMC in Pittsburgh and released several days after the incident, according to Butler City Police Chief Bob O'Neill.Dhana LeFevre was released from Butler County Prison after posting $25,000 bond, which contains multiple conditions. Those conditions include having no contact with the victim or their 15-year-old son, who called 911, or posting about them on social media.A second condition prohibits further criminal activity against the victim, and a third prohibits LaFevre from returning to the shared home or visiting her husband's workplace.Police responded around 11:39 p.m. Feb. 22, for a reported stabbing at the couple's Second Street home.According to charging documents, the couple's son told Butler County 911 dispatchers that his mother stabbed his father “because he came home late drunk.”According to a search warrant for the home, police found Philip LeFevre lying on his stomach and struggling to breathe or move.“Upon arrival, officers located the victim (Philip LeFevre) laying face down on the floor of the second-floor hallway,” O'Neill said Tuesday. “The victim had substantial amount of blood pooling underneath him.”O'Neill said officers found Dhana LeFevre sitting in a bedroom to the right of the hallway. The charging documents said Dhana LeFevre made the unsolicited statement to officers that “I hope he dies.”Police said they also found a knife on a wooden table in the bedroom. The knife had a three-to-four-inch, fixed double-sided blade with fresh blood on the blade.According to the documents, the son told police in an interview that he heard his father go upstairs, and then heard banging on the bedroom door. Shortly afterward, he heard his father yell, “You're killing me,” according to the documents.“Patrol officers also advised the frame for the master bedroom door was damaged as if Philip was attempting to gain access to that room,” said the search warrant's affidavit. The charging documents stated the son told police he walked upstairs and saw his father bleeding and his mother walking away from him with a knife in her hand.Dhana LeFevre later was interviewed at the police station, where she waived her Miranda rights, and talked with investigators, according to the charging documents.“Dhana admitted that she stabbed Philip. She also admitted that she did not call 911,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit.Dhana LeFevre's preliminary hearing was scheduled for 2 p.m. March 15 before District Judge William Fullerton. The Butler Eagle could not reach Dhana LeFevre for comment, and a defense attorney was not listed in her court documents.
