Crash sends 1 to hospital
A Saturday morning crash on New Castle Road in Worth Township sent one person to the hospital.
According to a state police report, Gerald Williams, 35, of Butler, was driving a 2008 WGMC semi-truck west on New Castle Road around 8:36 a.m. when it collided with a 2004 Honda Accord driven by Kameron Carter, 22, of Slippery Rock.
According to police, Carter was making a left turn in front of the truck from the I-79 Northbound exit ramp.
Firefighters arriving at the scene found both vehicles with heavy front-end damage, and they had to remove the Honda's driver through the passenger-side door, according to Slippery Rock Fire Chief Ryan Hanchosky.
Hanchosky said the truck's trailer was believed to be empty and heading toward Harlansburg, Lawrence County.
Police said Carter was taken to by ambulance to Grove City Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. He later was flown to UPMC Pittsburgh.
According to the report, Williams did not report any injuries.
Slippery Rock EMS and Scott Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene, where firefighters closed the road for about 20 minutes while a tow truck removed the car from the road.
Police said their investigation continues.
