Authority plans baseball, other events at stadium

The Butler Parks, Recreation, Grounds and Facilities Authority is planning to host 135 baseball games and 14 tournaments from March though September at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park.

Music and beer festivals, a car cruise, arts festival, a doo-wop band and a cornhole tournament round out the 2021 stadium schedule.

The authority board briefly reviewed the schedule at a meeting Tuesday.

The schedule includes 26 high school and college baseball games in March, 41 in April and 13 games along with four tournaments in May, said Stadium Manager Dean Selfridge.

The Butler BlueSox and Iron Bucks will play 34 games and three tournaments in June followed by 21 games and five tournaments in July. Two tournaments are set for September.

BlueSox manager Shawn Manning said there will be six to eight teams, including the BlueSox and Iron Bucks in the Tri-State Collegiate League.

The other events planned for the stadium are a music festival in April and a brew and music festival in May. August events include a car cruise, arts festival, a performance by the Pittsburgh Doo Wop Big Band and the annual cornhole tournament.

The authority is expected to call a special meeting next week to consider contracts for several employees.
