State Gaming Control Board full of corruption
Frank Dermody, remember that name. He was a Pennsylvania state representative. He is becoming the poster child for all things wrong with the PA political system.
We have our embarrassment named Daryl, and Oakmont has Dermody and his cronies. Dermody has been living high on taxpayer dollars for 30 years. He was recently voted out of his $130,000 a year job in Harrisburg.
One of the benefits of that job was that he got to appoint the members to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. And since the current members of that board had been appointed at least in part by Dermody, they did as any shameless board would do and gave him a position on that same board. Best news of all? It pays even better than the elected position, and he didn’t even have to campaign or be voted on by the public.
That is right; his new appointed, very part-time position pays $145,000 per year.
Thank you Mr. and Mrs. John Q. Public.
This comes as no surprise as Dermody had previously appointed two other former members of the Legislature to the board. This is nothing more than payback and taking care of their own.
Dermody is also now eligible for a state pension of $110,000 per year. Being voted out of office by his constituents should have sent a message about what they thought of his prior 30 years of taking a state salary. Let’s add to that bill requesting time limits an additional stipulation that bars this kind of sweetheart deal being made as well.
There is no shame among these so-called lawmakers. They should hide in disgrace for being involved in such practices. You will notice that nowhere in these comments does it mention a political party affiliation. If that matters to you, look it up.
Regardless, this is why people often think so poorly of what are supposed to be public servants. Dermody and those who elevated him to this role have clearly lost their way and should be voted out themselves.
And please wear your mask.
