Sentencings

Judge William Shaffer handed down the following sentences Thursday:

Mark William Beatty, 62, of Butler, was sentenced to 72 hours to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine for driving under the influence. Beatty was given credit for time already served, allowing him to be immediately paroled. Beatty was charged on July 7 and pleaded guilty on Dec. 28.

Zante W. Weltner, 21, of Butler, was sentenced to 18 months of probation for unlawful dissemination of an intimate image. Weltner is ordered to also not have any contact with the victim. Weltner was charged on May 29 and pleaded guilty on Dec. 28.

Brittany Dawn Williams, 30, of Chicora, was sentenced to one year of probation for possession of a controlled substance. Williams was charged on March 28 and pleaded guilty on Dec. 21. In a second case, Williams was sentenced to three years of probation for retail theft. Williams was charged on Oct. 6 and pleaded guilty on Dec. 22. In a third case, she was sentenced to six to 23 months in jail for retail theft. She was charged on Sept. 19, 2019, and pleaded guilty on Dec. 21.

Derrick David Cotten, 25, of Butler, was sentenced to 48 hours to six months in jail for driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license. Cotten was immediately paroled with the first seven days on house arrest with electronic monitoring. Cotten must also pay $700 in fines. Cotten was charged on Aug. 17 and pleaded guilty on Dec. 14.

Daniel A. Wikert, 28, of Saxonburg, was sentenced to jail for one year minus a day to two years minus a day for conspiring to commit access-device fraud. Wikert was immediately paroled after receiving credit for time already served. He must also serve one year of probation. Wikert was charged on Oct. 1, 2019, and pleaded guilty on Oct. 28. In a second case, he was sentenced to one year minus a day to two years minus a day in jail for criminal conspiracy to commit retail theft. He was paroled after receiving credit for time already served. He must also serve one year of probation and pay $4,178 in restitution. He was charged on Oct. 1, 2019, and pleaded guilty on Oct. 29.

Jarrett Russell Lavan, 30, of Butler, was sentenced to two years of probation with the first six months on house arrest for conspiring to possess a controlled substance with the intention to deliver. Lavan was charged on Sept. 1, 2016, and pleaded guilty on Dec. 21.
