Knoch High closes due to COVID
Although it has only been back to class since Jan. 11, Knoch High School will close until Monday because it has reached a COVID-19 case count of five.
David Foley, superintendent, announced Wednesday that he received reports of two students at the high school having tested positive for COVID-19.
The school already had three cases and was required by state officials to close for three days should it reach five cases.
Foley said high school students will learn at home for the rest of the week and return on Monday.
“All Knoch High School activities are canceled until Monday as well,” Foley said in a message to parents.
He noted the closure will not affect the middle school, intermediate elementary or primary center, where students can continue to attend classes.
Foley said at the January school board meeting that he worried about classes starting and stopping if the maximum number of cases was reached in the district's schools.
