Man charged in 2019 controlled drug buy
A Pittsburgh man is facing a hearing later this month on charges of selling crack cocaine and fentanyl to a police informant in 2019 in Oakland Township.
State police vice officers arrested 41-year-old Anthony D. Rue on Jan. 13 on a warrant stemming from the alleged drug buy Aug. 20, 2019. He is accused of agreeing to sell crack and heroin to the informant at a pre-arranged location in Oakland Township, according to court documents.
Undercover officers surveilled the meeting between the informant and defendant, police said. Troopers later sent the drugs to the state police crime lab in Westmoreland County.
Lab tests found that the drugs included 0.21 grams of crack and 0.20 grams of fentanyl, documents said,
District Judge Lewis Stoughton arraigned Rue on two felony charges of delivery/possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, two misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 26. Online court records did not indicate if he has an attorney.
Rue is being held in the Armstrong County Jail. Court records showed he has unrelated felony and misdemeanor drug charges pending in a 2019 Armstrong County case and in a 2018 Butler County case.
Additionally, court records showed that he has prior felony drug convictions in Butler, Allegheny and Westmoreland counties.
