Norman Summerville
Norman Gerald Summerville, 78, of Oakland Township, Butler County, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, at his lifelong homestead surrounded by his loving family.
Born Sept. 19, 1942, in Butler, he was the son of the late E. Paul and Pauline Summerville.
Norman worked at Pullman Standard as a hook on, until the plant closed. He then went on to work as a meat cutter at various meat shops. He then started driving a school bus, after his retirement.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He was a lifetime member of Oneida Valley VFD. He was an Oakland Township supervisor. Norm was a proud member of AA for 38 years.
He enjoyed farming on his John Deere tractor, hunting, fishing, and spending time at his outside “office.”
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Erma Jean (Seiler) Summerville, whom he married on Oct. 12, 1963; five children, Luther (Jodi) Summerville, Brian Summerville, Lisa Patten, Beth (Chris) Mennor and Natalie (Nathan) Clauser, all of Butler; nine grandchildren, Heidi Patten, Kelsie (Joshua) Stransky, Carley Patten, Abby (George) Kummer, Evan Mennor, Parker Clauser, Riley Clauser, Francine So and Kaleb Waldor; and four great-grandchildren, Addison and Finely Kummer, Emersynn Stransky and Klayton Adkins.
He is also survived by three sisters, Marie Olszewski of Irwin, Marilyn (Hal) Callihan of Mercer, and Carolyn (Willie) Powell of Cabot; three sisters- in-law, Patty Summerville, Anna Metcalf and Phyllis Summerville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norman was preceded in death by six brothers, Gene, Merle, Lowell, George, Bradley and Alan.
The family would like to thank the numerous doctors and staff of ICU, 5 Main and 6 Main at Butler Memorial Hospital for their quality care while Norman was in the hospital.

SUMMERVILLE — Friends of Norman Gerald Summerville, who died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020, will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.
A prayer service for Norm’s immediate family will follow in the funeral home.
