Farm Show Lineup
The following events will occur this week during the virtual 2021 Pennsylvania Farm Show.
<b>8:30 a.m.:</b> 4-H Demonstration: Alpaca Obstacle CourseJillian Ranko, Pennsylvania State 4-H Council president, and her alpaca demonstrate how to navigate obstacle courses.<b>11 a.m.:</b> STEM Demonstration: Make Butter from Cream!Watch Jalila Parker, executive director for the Governor's Commission on African American Affairs, and her son, Aiden, make butter from cream.<b>3 p.m.:</b> Farm Tour: Harvest Valley Farms, ValenciaHarvest Valley Farms grows more than 160 different varieties of vegetables that are all sold in the surrounding 25 miles of the farm within 24 hours of harvesting. In their fourth generation, this family operation is open every day of the week and offers produce, a variety of other local vendor products and a bakery.
<b>10 a.m.:</b> Panel Discussion: Cultivating ExcellenceA panel will discuss grant opportunities, emerging markets, on-farm biosecurity, ongoing research and other programs.<b>2 p.m.:</b> From Cow to Cup: The Journey of MilkEver wonder how milk gets from a cow to your refrigerator? Tune in to find out.<b>8 p.m.:</b> Panel Discussion: Cultivating the FutureKids are the future. Learn how today's youth are discovering opportunities in agriculture through agriculture education and youth organizations.
<b>10 a.m.:</b> Panel Discussion: Cultivating InsightJoin Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding and Penn State College of Agricultural Science's Dean Richard Roush as they discuss challenges, achievements and future opportunities for the agriculture industry.<b>2:30 p.m.:</b> Fun with Plants: Grow New Plants with Food ScrapsReduce food waste by re-growing your favorite vegetables from the scraps left over from your cooking. Gather your materials and follow along with our instructions.<b>5 p.m.:</b> Pennsylvania Pairings: Butternut Squash Dip and Pa. ChardonnayPerfectly paired Pennsylvania products! Tune-in to get your daily fix of Pennsylvania goodness. Enjoy the pairing from home, review the recipe to stock your PA ingredients.
<b>8 a.m.:</b> Spotted Lanternfly Control: By Kids, For KidsTune-in for a reading of a short story about the Spotted Lanternfly and how to control it, written and illustrated by students from around the commonwealth.<b>10 a.m.:</b> Panel Discussion: Cultivating DiversityThe Department of Agriculture is committed to combatting the injustices that have prevented equal access to opportunity throughout the agriculture industry. Join Redding as the farm show embraces Cultivating Diversity.
<b>10 a.m.:</b> Panel Discussion: Cultivating CommerceJoin Redding and economic development leaders as they discuss consumer trends, market access, e-commerce and new areas of growth that will benefit Pennsylvania's agriculture and food industries.<b>1 p.m.:</b> Troops to Tractors SpotlightTroops to Tractors is the state's grassroots network of veterans, military, and their spouses who farm and operate agribusinesses. They provide resource referral, education, and connections and convene educational events all while promoting veteran agriculture.<b>8 p.m.:</b> Panel Discussion: Cultivating TomorrowJoin Redding as young agriculture professional discuss how they became involved in the industry and their career pathways to find animal science, food processing, agriculture research and production agriculture. Discover how they are cultivating tomorrow.
<b>8:30 a.m.:</b> 4-H Demonstration: HorsesAudrey Ferrie, Pennsylvania 4-H State Council vice president of operations, highlights her 4-H project by introducing visitors to her horse TY My Sneakers (also known as Cooper). Audrey and Cooper will demonstrate showmanship, preparation, maneuvers and a pattern.<b>5 p.m.:</b> Pennsylvania Pairings: The Week in ReviewPerfectly paired Pennsylvania products!
