SV grad, missionary, heart transplant recipient dies

Greg Boros

A Go Fund Me campaign has been started to raise money for the wife and son of the late Gregory Boros, a Seneca Valley High School graduate and missionary.

Boros of Fairfax, Va., died Dec. 19, leaving behind his wife, Elise, and their 6-year-old son, Paul.

According to his brother, Nate Boros of North Carolina, Greg Boros graduated from Seneca Valley High School in 2003. After searching for meaning and identity during his freshman year at Penn State University, Boros entered into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Boros grew in his faith through his involvement in Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) and knew that God had called him to be a missionary to college students, his brother said.

He met his wife, Elise, during their freshman year at Penn State.

After their marriage, Greg and Elise joined Cru as missionaries at George Mason University in Fairfax, where they served for five years.

Following a subsequent three-year assignment leading Cru's ministry at their alma mater, Greg and Elise returned to George Mason University, where Elise still serves today.

Nate Boros said that during his sophomore year at Penn State, his brother discovered he had a previously unknown genetic anomaly affecting his heart.

His heart continued to fail and his health was affected until he had a heart transplant in 2010.

The operation gave George Boros an additional 10 years of life. Nate Boros said his brother's health began to decline in August, and he was hospitalized in November.

Nate Boros said, “The campaign is to pay Elise and Paul's living expenses, the funeral bills and the massive medical bills. As a single parent, Elise needs these funds. They were humble people who worked at a nonprofit,” he said.

As of Wednesday afternoon, nearly $45,000has been raised for the family.
