Eagle hires special sections editor

Andy Andrews

The Butler Eagle has announced that Andy Andrews, former special sections editor of the Reading Eagle newspaper in Reading, Berks County, has joined its staff as special sections editor.

Andrews, from Hershey, has four decades of experience in various newsrooms throughout Pennsylvania, including as editor of Lancaster Farming at LNP Weeklies and advertising sales responsibilities with the Patriot-News in Harrisburg.

“Andy is a talented editor whose skills will enhance our ability to report on news in the community and tell our residents’ stories,” said Donna Sybert, Eagle managing editor.

Andrews has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Temple University. He is a multiple Keystone Award winner from the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association.

He will be responsible for editing the various specially themed sections in the Eagle.

In January, Andrews is publishing a retrospective book on the newspaper industry, exploring the impact of the internet and the pandemic on newspaper operations.
