Police seeking convicted sex offender

An arrest warrant has been issued for a convicted sex offender who is accused of failing to register with state police, authorities said.

Deandre T. Moore, 39, who listed a Butler address when he last reported his information to authorities, is charged with felony counts of failing to register with state police, failing to verify his address and failing to provide accurate registration information.

Butler police charged him Wednesday. The criminal complaint lists him with a Philadelphia address.

The state police Megan's Law section notified city police Nov. 23 after receiving information that Moore was not living at the home on First Street that he had listed as his residence for reporting purposes on Nov. 13, authorities said.A Tier 2 sex offender, according to court documents, Moore is required to register with state police for 25 years, and he is expected to report to a registration or verification site twice a year.The state police Megan's Law website and court records showed that he pleaded guilty in 2017 to a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault in Philadelphia. The incident happened in 2015.Records showed that he was sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in prison followed by three years of probation. Additionally, he was ordered to register with state police in accordance with Megan's Law.A Butler police detective contacted the landlord of the First Street home that Moore had listed at his residence, authorities said, but the owner told the detective the defendant did not live there.Two tenants that lived at the home also told the detective that they did not know Moore.Police said they called the cell phone number that was included in the Megan's Law contact information for the defendant, but they learned the number was no longer in service.
