PennDOT to present Route 488 plans
The state Department of Transportation will present plans to the public on its proposed project to replace the bridge that carries Route 488 over Interstate 79, just east of Portersville.
Community members are invited to attend the virtual plan presentation, which will be held online at noon Dec. 7.
The virtual event can be accessed by visiting PennDOT.gov/District10 and clicking on “Public Meetings/Studies” under the “District Links” heading, then choosing the Butler County box and the State Route 488 — Portersville Bridge tile.
Those who attend can send questions to David Layman, project manager, at dlayman@pa.gov or by calling Layman at 724-357-2810.
A link will also be available during the plan presentation to ask questions of PennDOT officials working on the project.
According to a PennDOT news release, the bridge will be built in phases and two lanes of traffic will be maintained during construction.
The plan presentation will include preliminary information on the project’s status, schedule, design and right-of-way acquisition.
The nearby Park-n-Ride will remain open during the project’s construction phase.
