Nov. 18 — Melanie A. Werner, 44, of Summit Township was charged with drugged driving stemming from the reported overdose of a woman in her vehicle at East Pearl and North Monroe streets. Police got there and allegedly found the defendant slumped over in the driver's seat of her sport utility vehicle, which was running.The responding officer, Patrolman Benjamin Roger, administered a dose of Narcan and performed a sternum rub, after which Werner started to wheeze and groan. But there was no response when the officer called out to her.Patrolman Ryan Doctor arrived at the scene and administered another dose of Narcan, police said. Medics got there and gave Werner oxygen, and she slowly became responsive. She declined medical treatment.Police took her into custody and she was later taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results, according to court documents, showed she had methamphetamine, fentanyl and prescription medication in her system.Werner is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Tuesday — Police reported they are investigating the recent thefts of catalytic converters from two vehicles.The exhaust emission control device was taken from a 2005 Chevrolet Venture minivan in the parking lot of College View Towers on South Broad Street between 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday.Earlier, the catalytic converter was taken from a Honda CRV at the Grove City College parking lot by the East Main Street Presbyterian Church between 1:20 p.m. Nov. 19 and 10:20 a.m. Saturday.Police apparently have no suspects. Anyone with information about the thefts is asked to call police at 725-458-7925.

12:04 p.m. Saturday — No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash on Route 58 just west of Harmony Grove Lane in Harrisville. The wreck occurred when a car driven by Robert J. Rockwell, 21, of Bridgeport, Ohio, struck a minivan driven by Michael A. Rott, 50, of Harrisville.Police cited Rockwell for disregarding traffic lanes.Saturday — Police reported they are investigating the theft of $980 from the checking account of a 50-year-old Clay Township woman. Police spoke to the victim Nov. 19. No other information was immediately available.
