5:53 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Tracelynn R. Smith, 26, of Butler in snowy conditions struck a utility pole on the 500 block of Bonniebrook Road in Summit Township. She and two passengers, both young children, were not injured. Police cited her for disregarding traffic lanes.5:37 p.m. Tuesday — No one was injured when a car driven by Sarah E. McCabe, 25, of Butler and a pickup truck driven by William K. Kiley, 56, of Cabot slid through the intersection of Jones and Keasey roads in Winfield Township.4:49 a.m. Monday — Police were called for a one-vehicle crash on Shannon Road south of Camp Fatima Road in Connoquenessing Township, and found a car had struck a tree. The driver had fled. Police said they later identified Bradley E. Weitzel, 33, of Butler as the driver. The crash remains under investigation.Friday — Drayvin M. Redick, 22, of Butler was charged with having marijuana and other drug contraband stemming from a traffic stop last month in Franklin Township. He was a passenger in the car, which was pulled over around 4:35 p.m. Oct. 13 at Route 422 and Prospect Road.Redick is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.Nov. 10 — An Indiana man was charged with having marijuana and other drug contraband stemming from a traffic stop last month in Butler. Police said Sean M. Wehner, 44, of Chesterfield was stopped shortly after 11:20 p.m. Oct. 23 at North Main and Charles streets for a burned out headlight and tail light.Wehner was searched and found with a suspected drug smoking pipe. Police said they found a baggie containing suspected marijuana in his car.He is charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving an unregistered vehicle and two lighting violations.Tuesday — Police reported that a thief made off with $900 earlier this month in a suspected case of extortion targeting a 30-year-old Center Township man. The suspect contacted the victim and threatened to post a picture of him online unless he sent the money via the mobile payment app Venmo.Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Nov. 5 — Travis D. Schuller, 31, of Center Township was charged with being more than twice the state's legal limit for alcohol in a one-vehicle wreck last month in Center Township. Police said he was driving a sport utility vehicle shortly before midnight Oct. 16 that struck a mailbox and tree along Holyoke Road.Police said Schuller told them the crash occurred when he swerved the SUV to avoid a deer on the road. He was eventually taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.177 percent, court documents said.In Pennsylvania, a level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated.In addition to DUI, he is charged with failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, careless driving and not a wearing a seat belt.Nov. 5 — A Venango Township man was charged with drugged driving stemming from a September traffic stop in Center Township. The defendant, Robin C. Brain, 30, was stopped around 2:35 a.m. Sept., 5 on Mercer Road at the Community Alliance Church.Police later took him to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, according to court documents, which showed he had marijuana in his system.Brain is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, speeding, careless driving, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes and driving a vehicle without valid inspection.Nov. 4 — Police charged Brian J. Miller, 31, of Slippery Rock with drugged driving and having a set of metal knuckles after he caused a two-vehicle wreck in Slippery Rock Township. Neither Miller nor the other driver was injured in the crash around 5:30 p.m. Oct. 15 on the 400 block of Route 173.The defendant, who admitted to taking prescription medication earlier in the day, was eventually taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, where he refused to submit to a blood test, according to court documents.Miller is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a prohibited offensive weapon, driving with a suspended license-DUI related, improperly passing another vehicle, failing to keep right, disregarding traffic lanes, following too closely to another vehicle, driving too fast for conditions, careless driving and reckless driving.6:08 p.m. Oct. 17 — Heather A. Kuhrt, 36, of Butler was arraigned on charges of driving on drugs stemming from a call last month for a woman slumped over the wheel of a car at Henricks and Evans roads in Center Township. Butler Ambulance Service paramedics were treating Kuhrt when police arrived following the call at 6:08 p.m. Oct. 17.She subsequently was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, according to court documents, where a blood test indicated that she was positive for “multiple controlled substances.”Kuhrt was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, careless driving and reckless driving. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $1,500 following arraignment.12:48 p.m. Nov. 3 — Brandi R. Wilson, 28, of Butler allegedly gave police a fake name following a traffic stop at Route 8 and South Benbrook Road in Center Township. She is charged with false identification to law enforcement authorities.11 a.m. Oct. 31 — Jessica L. Cartwright, 40, of Donegal Township allegedly took $100 worth of items at a garage sale on Oak Road in Donegal Township without paying for them. She failed to return to pay for the items — several pairs of shoes, a plant holder and a welding helmet — after telling the owner she would, according to court documents.Cartwright is charged with theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception.Oct. 27 — Police charged David A. George, 35, of Butler with drugged driving and having marijuana in connection with a September traffic stop in Center Township. He was pulled over around 1:30 a.m. Sept. 27 on Route 8 near Pine Drive.A search of George, court documents said, turned up plastic bags containing suspected marijuana. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test, which allegedly showed he had an unspecified controlled substance in his system.He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.10:59 p.m. Oct. 24 — Kyle J. Forsythe, 24, of Cherry Township was arrested for DUI after his car crashed and overturned on Branchton Road about one-half mile east of Chambers Road in Cherry Township.Police later took Forsythe for a breath test, according to court documents, which indicated his blood-alcohol level was 0.163 percent. In addition to DUI, he is charged with driving too fast for conditions and disregarding traffic lanes.Oct. 20 — Carrie L. Reid, 43, of Butler was arrested after she allegedly swiped a loaf of Italian bread at the Clearview Mall's Giant Eagle store in Center Township. She was arraigned on a felony charge of retail theft, and later released on her own recognizance.
