MOUNT PLEASANT — A toddler was killed early Monday when a fast-moving fire roared through a mobile home.

The fire in Mount Pleasant Township was reported shortly after 4 a.m., and firefighters arrived on scene a short time later. The body of a 2-year-old girl, Charli Lynn Marie Olson, was later found in the trailer.

Her father, John Olson, said he tried to climb in through a window to rescue her but was unable to get inside due to smoke.

At least three other people were also in the trailer when the blaze broke out but they were all able to escape the flames, authorities said.

A state police fire marshal is investigating and will make an official ruling on the cause of the fire.
