1930 — May 28, 2004Josephine Vicari Massucci Franz was born in Pittsburgh and raised in Butler.She was one of the original employees of WQED and changed her name to Josie Carey at the suggestion of a station manager.Carey hosted “The Children's Corner” on WQED from 1953-1961. The program won the Sylvania Award in 1955 for the best locally produced children's program in the country.She partnered with Fred Rogers on Rogers' show “Mister Rogers' Neighborhood.” She wrote the lyrics to 68 songs on “Mister Rogers' Neighborhood,” including “Tomorrow,” which Rogers sang at the end of every episode of the show until 1972.She continued to perform, act and direct in Pittsburgh community theater until her death in 2004.

Oct. 13, 1980 —Glenn Crytzer, who was born in Butler, is a composer, guitarist, banjoist and singer and a 1999 graduate of Butler High School.Crytzer specializes in orchestral jazz, swing and big band music. He is also the band leader of The Glenn Crytzer Orchestra and Glenn Crytzer's Savoy Seven.He has released seven albums, the first being “Chasin' The Blues” in 2009 and the most recent is “Ain't It Grand?” in 2018.Crytzer's music has also been featured in films, including the documentaries “Old Fashioned: The Story of the Wisconsin Supper Club” in 2015 and “Alive and Kicking” in 2016.Most recently, Crytzer's work has been used in the Disney movie “Christopher Robin” (2018) and “Pokemon Detective Pikachu” (2019).
